The Jamtal Environmental Education Centre is an open classroom for pupils with an experience-based approach (learning through experience), but is also open to the interested public. Here, nature is the classroom – and also the teaching material. It lies in the middle of the Alps in an untouched high mountain landscape shaped by the forces of water and glaciers.
Climate change is a fascination, but also the social challenge of the 21st century. Young people today have to live with the consequences of climate change and shape the future. You can only manage what you understand. The results of scientific research have been prepared for students, teachers and other interested parties and are freely available to everyone. Teaching material and live broadcasts for the Jamtalferner at: www.umweltbildung-jamtal.info.
Each excursion is accompanied by an employee of the University of Innsbruck - Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research – you can find accommodation options on the Jamtalhütte – www.jamtalhuette.at. Project funding through the Leader Programme of the Regional Management District Landeck - RegioL, as well as co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund.
